A double bill evening full of LGBTQI music and dance!
As well as new electronic music for “Marg – a pathway” dance work, composer Benjamin Tassie will perform a set of his music for acoustic instruments and electronics. Drawing on video-game music, cartoon cats, or the sounds of the Baroque, he’ll present music for gigantic flutes, violins, keyboards, electronic instruments, and more. Often exploring LGBTQ+ identities overtly in his work, Benjamin’s eclectic sound-world shows an artist working ‘in the margins’ of what art-music and pop mean today.
The second half of the evening will present GFEST 2016 dance work “Marg – a pathway”, offering 2 narratives from Indian epic Mahabharata exploring the ageless nature of gender fluidity and sexual diversity. The dance unfolds stories of love, transformations, vengeance and ultimate truth. Choreographed by Subodh Rathod and presented in collaboration with University of Roehampton dance and music departments. Performers: Carlos Ara, Daniel Walsh, George Baan, Luigi Ambrosio and Thalia Mari Papadopoulou.
This is a fundraiser event for GFEST 2016 and GFEST 2017 commissions. Please donate generously to ensure that GFEST becomes an even stronger platform for LGBTQI artists (via Charities Aid Foundation gift-aid enabled) Donate
